Help center / Business operations
Locations lists the stores or sites inside the selected business. A business can have up to 10 locations. They share its product catalog, team and subscription; adding a location does not add a paid seat.
Add or rename a location
- Check that the business selector shows the business you want to change.
- Open Locations and choose Add location.
- Enter a recognizable Location name, such as Downtown or Warehouse, and choose Save location.
- To change a name, choose Rename on its card, edit the name and save.
Adding and renaming require Manage workspace settings permission and an editable business. If an action is unavailable, hover, focus or tap it for the reason. At 10 locations, the Add action is unavailable. There is no location deletion control on this page.
Read a location card
Depending on your screen access, the card shows visible assigned people and total stock units. The people count reflects the people your Work access lets you see; it is not necessarily the complete team roster. A missing count or link can reflect your permissions.
Manage quantities selects that location and opens Inventory. Store map selects it and opens its map. Renaming a location keeps its saved stock and other records connected to the same location.
Assign people
A person with permission to manage team members can open People, choose Edit access, select the person's locations and save. Location assignment and screen permissions are separate: assigning someone to a location does not itself grant Inventory, Store map or management permission. See people and roles.
A business location or a stock location?
A business location is a store or site. Inside Inventory, a stock location is a place within that site, such as a backroom, shelf or named area. Use Locations for another store; use Inventory's location controls for another stock area inside an existing store.
For counting, receiving and moving units, see inventory and stock locations. For separate catalogs, memberships and subscriptions, see multiple businesses.
