Cash drop is already outside the drawer. Count only cash still in the till.

Close a drawer with a record of what you expected and what you counted. This free cash reconciliation tool combines cash movements with a denomination count, then shows any difference and the amount available to remove after retaining a float. The sample is fictional and can be replaced with your own figures.
How to reconcile a cash drawer
Enter the count name, location or till, date and counter.
Record the opening float and cash sales before refunds. Exclude card payments.
Enter other cash paid in, cash refunds, other payouts and cash drops already removed.
Count the notes and coins still inside the drawer. Enter each denomination once and use whole counts, including 0.
Enter the float to leave in the till, review the result and add any notes.
Blank counts are incomplete. Entering zero means that denomination has been checked and none are present. The tool supports up to 20 different denominations, which you can edit to match the cash being counted. Changing currency changes labels only, so review the denomination values yourself.
Understand the expected amount
Expected cash equals opening float plus cash sales plus other paid-in cash, minus refunds, other paid-out cash and cash drops. Counted cash is the sum of each denomination multiplied by its count.
In the sample, 100.00 opening float plus 250.00 sales and 20.00 paid in, minus 10.00 refunds, 15.00 payouts and 50.00 cash drops, leaves 295.00 expected in the till. The denomination count also totals 295.00, so the difference is zero.
The over-or-short figure is counted cash minus expected cash. A positive result is an overage and a negative result is a shortage. Review both the count and the entered movements when they differ. The tool does not establish why a discrepancy occurred.
Keep float and cash drops separate
The deposit figure is counted cash minus the float you choose to retain. It covers cash being removed from the current drawer only. It does not add earlier cash drops back in or confirm a bank deposit. A retained float cannot exceed the counted amount.
Avoid subtracting a refund twice: the sales field expects cash sales before refunds. Likewise, a cash drop already removed should not be counted among the notes still in the drawer. Use notes to explain the figures for your own review process.
No. All figures are entered manually, and the tool does not move money, change sales records or connect to payment systems.
Can I print the count?
Yes. Print a worksheet or choose Save as PDF. A text download includes the movements, denomination counts and results.
Can I reopen a count later?
Download the editable cash JSON file and reopen it here. Files are read on your device, and replacement requires confirmation. Refreshing or leaving clears the current draft.
What if expected cash becomes negative?
The tool asks you to check the movements because recorded cash leaving the drawer exceeds the recorded cash available. Results and export remain unavailable until the figures are corrected.
