Give the incoming shift a clear record of what happened and what needs attention next. This free shift handover tool organizes notes, issues and actions in one printable report. Start with the fictional shop example, then replace it with details relevant to your own changeover.
How to prepare a handover
Enter the report title, store or location, date and shift description.
Add the names of the person handing over and the person receiving, if useful.
Write a short summary of the shift.
Add up to 50 issues or tasks. Choose a category, priority and status for each.
Record what happened, the next action, an optional owner and an optional due date.
Review the complete preview and download or print it before leaving the page.
Categories cover stock, customers, equipment, incidents and other items. They help identify the subject of a note; they do not change any business record. Use the detail field for context and the action field for what the next person needs to do.
Separate open work from completed notes
Open means work remains. Monitor means the next shift should keep an eye on the issue. Done preserves a completed item in the report. The summary counts Open and Monitor items as work carried forward and separately counts urgent items among them.
Search the title, details, actions or owner labels, or filter the editor by status. The preview and all exports still contain every item, including completed notes. This keeps the report complete when you are reviewing one part of it on screen.
A priority label does not notify anyone. Communicate urgent issues through your normal process and confirm that the incoming shift understands the next step. Names and dates in this tool do not create staff assignments, reminders or alerts.
Keep a copy for the next shift
Download the editable handover JSON file if you want to update it later. Reopening a file asks before replacing the draft already on screen. Text export is useful for a readable copy, while print and Save as PDF produce the full report.
The tool stores no account history and provides no live shared editing or acknowledgement record. It does not replace any required incident-reporting process. Keep the details relevant to the handover and share the resulting file through your own process.
