Standalone checklist · headoffis.com/tools/store-visit-checklist
Make every store visit cover the same ground. This editable store visit checklist moves from first impressions outside the store to standards on the floor and the actions you agree with the team, with space to name the person responsible for each follow-up. Tick tasks off during the visit, then print or download a copy as your visit record. You do not need an account, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
Use it as a store visit template for area or district managers, or for an owner checking a second location. Rewrite the sample tasks around what matters in your stores, then keep a copy of each visit.
How to use the checklist builder
- Enter your name, the store you are visiting, and the visit date.
- Adapt the sample tasks to your standards. Type a name in the Owner field beside each task, such as the store lead who will follow it up, and remove any row that does not apply with its bin icon.
- Add extra checks with the New task field. Choose a section, then select Add task. The checklist holds up to 40 tasks.
- Tick each task during the visit. The progress line shows how many tasks are complete.
- Choose Print / PDF to print the list or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog, or Download text for a plain-text copy with owners and completion marks to share after the visit.
What the sample covers
The starter list has three sections that follow a typical store walk.
- Outside and first impressions. Check the entrance, window displays and signs from the street. Note how quickly customers are greeted and helped. Walk the floor as a customer and note what stands out.
- Standards on the floor. Check availability, gaps and price labels on priority lines. Review promotional displays against the current plan. Check cleanliness and safety in customer areas, including clear exits. Look at the stockroom and how recent deliveries were handled.
- Team and follow-up. Talk with the store lead about sales, staffing and current challenges. Agree each action with an owner and a date. Share the visit summary and set the date of the next visit.
Clear exits are worth a look on every visit. OSHA's fact sheet on emergency exit routes says employers must keep exit routes unobstructed by materials or equipment, and stockrooms are where cartons tend to build up.
Adapt it to your store
Store standards differ by format and brand, so replace each general task with the checks you use. A store with a planned shelf reset might add a row to compare a fixture with its plan from the planogram builder, and a store that is changing its floor might review a plan from the store layout planner.
Owners turn a visit into actions. Put each follow-up under the name of the person who will do it, and write the date in the task text. Owner names are notes in your draft; the tool does not notify anyone or assign saved work. For keeping actions moving across several stores, read about multi-location task management.
You can rename, add, reorder or remove sections, and the arrow buttons move a task up or down, into the next section at either end. Every task needs text before you can download or print.
Keep a record of each visit
Your draft stays in this browser tab when you refresh, and closing the tab clears it, so download a checklist file to reopen it later, or print before you close the tab. The plain-text download lists who visited, the store, the visit date, a count of completed tasks, and every task with its completion mark and owner, which makes a simple visit report to share with the store.
For a printable store visit checklist, leave the completion boxes unticked and choose Print / PDF, and take the paper copy on the walk.
Frequently asked questions
What should a store visit checklist include?
First impressions from outside and on the floor, the standards that matter most (availability, pricing, displays, cleanliness and safety), a conversation with the store lead, and agreed actions with owners and dates. Edit the sample to match your standards.
How do I write up a store visit?
Tick off what you checked, add a task for each agreed action with its owner, and download the plain-text copy after the visit. It lists every task with its completion mark and owner, so the store has the same record you do.
Can I use it for several stores?
Yes. Enter each store's name, download that visit's copy, then choose Reset sample before the next store. After you confirm, the original tasks return and the name, location and date fields clear.
Is this connected to my store's systems?
No. It is a standalone checklist. It does not read sales or stock, notify colleagues or save visit records. Your changes stay in this browser tab until you close it.
