The shaded edge is bleed, which is trimmed off. The solid line is the cut, and the dotted line is the safe area: keep words and the QR code inside it.
Prints 10 cards on US Letter paper, with the backs on page 2 in mirrored order for two-sided printing. In the print dialog choose US Letter, set the scale to 100% or actual size, set margins to none and turn off headers and footers. Use card stock your printer accepts, then cut along the crop marks with a paper trimmer. Printers flip pages differently, so print one two-sided test sheet first.

Make a simple, printable business card for your shop. This free business card maker turns your business name, contact details and logo into a card at the exact trim size. Start with the fictional shop sample, replace the details and print a sheet at home or save a file with bleed for a print shop.
Make a business card
- Enter the business name, and add a tagline, a person's name and a role if you want them on the card.
- Add the contact details customers should use: phone, email, website or address. Empty lines are left off.
- Choose a layout, an accent color and serif or sans-serif lettering, and add your logo if you have one.
- Pick the card size: 3.5 × 2 in for the US and Canada, 85 × 55 mm for the UK and most of Europe, or 91 × 55 mm for Japan.
- Choose a back side: none, your logo or name on the accent color, or a QR code that opens a web page.
- Review the front and back in the preview, then print or save as PDF.
The logo is read on your device and kept in the draft. Save the card as a file to reopen it on this page later; opening a file replaces the current draft.
Print business cards at home
Choose At home to print a sheet of cards with crop marks. A US card fills a Letter or A4 sheet ten at a time; the taller 55 mm cards fit eight on Letter and ten on A4. In the print dialog choose the same paper, set the scale to 100% or actual size, set margins to none and turn off headers and footers.
Use card stock your printer can feed, then cut along the crop marks with a paper trimmer and a steel ruler. For a two-sided card, the backs print on the second page with the columns mirrored, so they line up when the sheet is flipped on its long edge. Printers flip pages differently, so print one test sheet before a full run.
Send a print-ready file to a print shop
Choose Print shop to print one card per page at the trim size plus bleed: 1/8 in on each side for the US card and 3 mm for the metric sizes. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog with margins set to none, and send the front and back pages to the printer.
Turn on the bleed and safe area guides in the preview to check the file. The shaded edge is trimmed off, the solid line is the cut, and words and the QR code stay inside the dotted safe area. Printers set their own trim, bleed and color rules, so compare the file with the printer's template and ask for a proof. Our business card size guide lists the common sizes in inches, millimeters and pixels.
Where to order printed cards
Many online printers take business card orders and publish their own templates and file specifications. As examples, in no particular order:
Check each printer's size, bleed and file requirements before you upload, and order a proof first. A local print shop can also print from the PDF and let you feel the card stock before you order. headoffis does not print cards and is not paid for these links.
What to put on a business card
Most shop cards need the business name, one or two ways to get in touch and a reason to keep the card. A QR code on the back can open your opening hours, a booking page or your online shop; scan the printed proof with more than one phone. Frequently asked questions
Can I make a business card without an account?
Yes. The maker opens with an editable sample and works without a login or email address. What you type and the logo you choose are not uploaded.
Can I save my card and edit it later?
Save the card as a file and open it on this page later. The draft is held only in this browser tab: it survives a refresh, and closing the tab clears it. You can also download the card's details as plain text.
Does this order printed cards?
No. The maker prints through your own printer or saves a PDF through your browser. To order cards, send the PDF to a print shop and follow its instructions.
What size is a standard business card?
In the United States and Canada a standard business card is 3.5 × 2 in (88.9 × 50.8 mm). Most of the UK and Europe uses 85 × 55 mm, and Japan uses 91 × 55 mm.
