Shelf capacity calculator for rectangular packages
Estimate positions across and deep on one clear shelf, with products arranged one unit high.
Formula and worked example
Floor(shelf width ÷ product width) × floor(shelf depth ÷ product depth).
Illustrative example: a 36 × 15 shelf with 4 × 3 packages fits 9 across and 5 deep, or 45 units one unit high.
Before you use the result
- Use the same unit for all four dimensions, such as inches or centimeters. Subtract dividers and any required clearance from the shelf measurements first.
- The tool models identical rectangular packages in a fixed orientation, one unit high. It does not rotate, stack or mix products, and does not model hanging fixtures.
- Check product height, shelf clearance, weight limits and physical fit separately. A zero total means the package does not fit in at least one direction.
