Hours are based on entered clock times, without daylight-saving adjustments. This is a planning sheet, not a payroll calculation or a check of employment rules.

Put the week's shifts in one place with a simple staff rota builder. Add your team, choose a Monday and enter each person's working times. The preview groups shifts by their starting day and shows weekly hours after the breaks you enter.
Make a weekly rota
Name the rota, add a store or location and choose the Monday that starts the week.
Replace the fictional names with your team. Use distinct names so people can tell their shifts apart.
Add a shift, choose its person and starting day, and enter start and end times.
Enter unpaid break minutes, including 0 if there is no deduction. Add a role or short note if useful.
Review the schedule, resolve highlighted errors and download or print the finished week.
The builder supports up to 20 people and 70 shifts. Names are labels on this sheet, not accounts or business assignments. The tool does not send invitations or notify staff.
Handle overnight shifts and overlaps
For a shift from 22:00 to 06:00, check Ends next day. The eight-hour shift stays under its starting day. With a 30-minute unpaid break, it contributes 7h 30m to that person's weekly hours. A Sunday overnight shift ends on the following Monday and belongs to the week in which it started.
Shifts must be longer than zero and no longer than 24 hours. A break must be shorter than the shift. The builder flags overlapping shifts for the same person, including overlaps that cross midnight. A shift ending at 17:00 can sit directly beside one starting at 17:00. Breaks do not remove an overlap because the tool does not know when within the shift they occur.
Share a copy of the week
Print the rota or choose Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog. The print layout lists the days vertically to keep shift details readable. A text download includes each day and the weekly hours. Download a rota JSON file if you want to reopen and edit the schedule later.
The draft is held in the open tab and resets when you leave or refresh. Files are read on your device. To plan the work within each shift, use the simple taskboard or prepare an opening checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Is the staff rota builder free without a login?
Yes. It opens with a fictional sample, and you can edit, download and print without creating an account.
How are weekly hours calculated?
For each shift, the builder subtracts the start time from the end time, adds a day when Ends next day is checked, then subtracts the entered break. It adds those minutes for each person and for the whole rota.
Does it calculate wages or check employment rules?
No. Hours use local clock times without daylight-saving adjustments. The schedule does not calculate pay, overtime, leave, legal breaks or staffing requirements. Review those separately using the requirements that apply to your team.
Can several people edit the same rota?
There is no live shared editing. Download a file or PDF and share it through your own process. If you reopen an editable file, the page asks before replacing your current draft.
