Standalone checklist · headoffis.com/tools/weekly-cleaning-checklist
Keep the deeper cleaning on track with one shared list for the week. This editable cleaning checklist covers the shop floor, the checkout and customer areas, and the back of house, with space to name the person responsible for each task. Tick tasks off as they are done, then print or download a copy. You do not need an account, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
Use it as a store cleaning schedule for the jobs that do not fit the daily routine. Daily tidying belongs on the closing checklist; this list is for the weekly work.
How to use the checklist builder
- Enter the cleaning lead's name, the store or location, and the date the week starts.
- Adapt the sample tasks to your store. Type a name in the Owner field beside each task, and remove any row that does not apply with its bin icon.
- Add extra tasks with the New task field. Choose a section, then select Add task. The checklist holds up to 40 tasks.
- Tick each task when it is done. The progress line shows how many tasks are complete.
- Choose Print / PDF to print the list or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog, or Download text for a plain-text copy with owners and completion marks.
What the sample covers
The starter list has three sections that move from the shop floor to the back of house.
- Shop floor. Dust shelves, fixtures and display tops, moving stock as needed. Clean glass, mirrors and the inside of the front windows. Deep clean floors in busy areas and the entrance mats. Wipe shelf edges, price rails and sign holders.
- Checkout and customer areas. Clean the counter, card terminals and screens following the manufacturer's instructions. Empty, clean and reline bins. Check fitting rooms, seating and customer toilets, where you have them.
- Back of house. Tidy and clean the stockroom floor and shelving. Clean the staff area, fridge and microwave. Check cleaning supplies and note what to reorder.
Clean floors are a safety task as well. OSHA's rule on walking-working surfaces addresses slip, trip and fall hazards, so a check for spills, loose mats and trailing cables fits in the shop floor section.
Adapt it to your store
The sample uses general wording on purpose, because cleaning routines differ by store, flooring and equipment. Replace each general task with the step your team follows, and add the jobs that come round less often, such as high shelves or chillers.
Cleaning products can be hazardous. OSHA's Hazard Communication standard requires employers with hazardous chemicals to have labels and safety data sheets for them and to train the workers who use them. A row for checking product labels and storage keeps that on the list.
Owners help when the work is shared. Give each area to the person who cleans it, and put the supplies check under the cleaning lead's name. Owner names are notes in your draft; the tool does not notify anyone or assign saved work.
You can rename, add, reorder or remove sections, and the arrow buttons move a task up or down, into the next section at either end. Every task needs text before you can download or print.
Keep a copy for each week
Your draft stays in this browser tab when you refresh, and closing the tab clears it, so download a checklist file to reopen it later, or print before you close the tab. The plain-text download lists the cleaning lead, location, the week's start date, a count of completed tasks, and every task with its completion mark and owner.
For a printable cleaning checklist, leave the completion boxes unticked and choose Print / PDF, then pin a copy in the staff area for the week. The opening checklist covers the start of each day, and the simple taskboard tracks one-off jobs such as a repair.
Frequently asked questions
What should be on a weekly cleaning checklist for a store?
The jobs that need more time than the daily routine: dusting fixtures and high shelves, deep cleaning floors and mats, cleaning glass, checkout equipment and bins, and cleaning the stockroom and staff area. Edit the sample to match your store.
How is this different from a daily cleaning list?
Daily tasks, such as tidying the floor and emptying bins, fit the opening and closing routines. This list collects the weekly work, so the team can see what has been done and what is still open.
Can I print a fresh copy every week?
Yes. Leave the completion boxes unticked and choose Print / PDF for a fresh paper copy. Or enter the week's start date and download a completed list at the end of the week.
Is this connected to my store's systems?
No. It is a standalone checklist. It does not schedule staff, order supplies or notify anyone. Your changes stay in this browser tab until you close it.
