What gets in the way

Editions occupy different space

Hardbacks, paperbacks and boxed sets differ in dimensions and selling identity even when the title is similar.

Front-facing displays use space differently

A display measured for spine-out books will not describe the same number of front-facing copies. Orientation needs to be deliberate.

Events create temporary layouts

An author event or seasonal table needs setup work, a clear product list and a plan for returning remaining stock afterward.

How headoffis helps

Record the stocked edition

Create a distinct SKU for each edition or package counted separately, and enter the dimensions for its planned display orientation.

Model the usable shelf

Measure the fixture's usable dimensions and check each rectangular placement. Treat a physical mock-up as part of reviewing unusual display stands.

Preserve the approved display

Approve the arrangement before installation so the team can work from a fixed snapshot of products and positions.

Track event setup and return work

Assign preparation, label checks and post-event stock movements as separate work with owners and due dates.

Example: Example: a seasonal reading display

  1. Choose the exact editions and create measured product records for the front-facing arrangement.
  2. Draft the available shelf positions and review the result against the physical fixture.
  3. Approve the display and assign setup with the corresponding product labels.
  4. After the event, count remaining copies and record movements back to their normal locations.

Good to know

  • The catalog does not fetch bibliographic records, assign ISBNs or synchronize with a book wholesaler.
  • One product has one set of dimensions; use an orientation consistently and check angled stands or mixed orientations physically.
  • Used-book grading, consignment and automatic edition matching are not provided. The workspace is coming soon.
