What gets in the way

A wide range of pack sizes

Small treats, large food bags and boxed accessories take different space. Similar branding can hide size differences during a count or refill.

Bulky reserve stock sits elsewhere

A selling shelf may hold only a few units while larger quantities wait in storage. The team needs to know which location requires action.

Display work crosses departments

A promotional bay can involve stockroom staff and floor staff, with different tasks that need named owners.

How headoffis helps

Identify each packaged variant

Use separate product records for sizes, flavors and pack types that are counted independently. Measure the outer package for the planned orientation.

Record storage-to-shelf movements

Count locations separately and record transfers when reserve units refill the selling area. Review uncertain counts before making a buying decision.

Read the guide: Track inventory by location: count, receive and move stock →

Assign display and refill work

Give each piece of work a person, location and due date, with instructions that identify the products and expected result.

Route requests to the right contacts

Group staff into departments and designate the people who should receive a departmental message. Department membership does not replace access permissions.

Example: Example: reorganizing a treat display

  1. Distinguish the sizes and flavors in the catalog and measure each selling package.
  2. Count current shelf and storage quantities to identify what can be moved.
  3. Approve the new display arrangement and assign installation work.
  4. Check the physical fit, product labels and final location quantities.

Good to know

  • This covers packaged retail merchandise, not live-animal care, veterinary records or treatment workflows.
  • Lot, expiry and recall tracking are not implemented; retain the systems needed for those responsibilities.
  • Flexible bags are approximated by bounding dimensions, with no weighing or stacking model. The workspace is coming soon.
